snippet: This dataset includes visible surface waters of Washington State for 2017. Visible surface water includes any water body visible in NAIP 2017 imagery (taken in leaf-on seasons) but does not include portions of water features which are concealed (i.e., covered by tree canopy, bridges, etc.). Water is represented as polygons and includes attributes on the type of water body and how the feature was created or verified. More information on this dataset, related data products, and applications can be found on our website: https://hrcd-wdfw.hub.arcgis.com/.

VSW is not intended to represent a full hydrography or show connectivity, like other available water datasets – like NHD – whose boundaries may include other landcover types (i.e., shrubs, trees, etc.). Each feature has been visually verified and given attributes by an analyst. This dataset is also unique in that it reflects surface water for a single year - 2017. A variety of funding sources acquired between 2019 and 2023 aided the completion of the dataset for the entire state of Washington. </SPAN></P><DIV><DIV><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
