description:

Historical change was analyzed for each Process Unit in Puget Sound, as well as at the PSNERP sub-basin scale, in four categories, also referred to as “tiers”: 1) Shoreform Transition (Tier 1):
changes in shoreform class, either among natural geomorphic classes or to classifications of artificial or absent; 2) Shoreline Alterations (Tier 2): changes in historically documented attributes, such as wetlands, or current anthropogenic modifications (considered stressors) along the shoreline; 3) Adjacent Upland Change (Tier 3): anthropogenic changes within 200 meters of the adjoining uplands; and 4) Watershed Area Change (Tier 4): anthropogenic changes in the drainage area. Change data documented for the Tier 1 category included change between historical and current shoreform class, including transition to artificial (e.g., nearshore fill) or total loss of shoreform. |
